The Metro Studio is available
to you.
The only dedicated performance space of its kind in
downtown Victoria, our venue offers a flexible range of
options for all kinds of events. Live theatre and dance are our
specialties, but we also rent for corporate gatherings,
screenings, classes, dances, readings, film shoots,
concerts and parties.
Located on the busy corner of Quadra Street and Johnson
Street, near every bus route, the studio is a spacious "black box"
theatre with a 30'w by 27'd stage and wingspace on both sides. Our
venue is
well-equipped
with
new theatrical lighting and sound systems, a clearcom system, a grand
piano, a digital
projector and other toys. The Metro features 150
new, upholstered seats on
tiered audience risers in a proscenium configuration. Grid 19'6" above
stage level. Excellent acoustics. Fully wheelchair accessible.

until Intrepid Theatre has received signed contracts, and a
deposit of 50% of the total fee. Commercial rates apply to non
arts-based organizations. The balance of fees is due within 10 days
following the rental.

Terms, Conditions and Details
Taxes
All listed rates and fees are subject to HST at 12%.
Daily Booking
Times
Most bookings are either four or eight hour blocks. When an event
continues beyond the rental period, it will be subject to an additional
fee of $21.50/hr up to 8 hours, $32.25/hr from 8-12 hours and
$43.00/additional hour after 12 hours. This is on a per-day basis
and covers the cost of the technicians labour fees only.
Rental Deposits
The required rental deposit will be 50% of the total rental. The
balance is due 10 days after the rental is completed and upon
presentation of a
final invoice that includes the balance owing and any additional
incurred fees.
Insurance
A certificate of public liability and property damage insurance for a
minimum of $2 million of coverage per event is required. This is to be
submitted to Intrepid Theatre no later than 1 week before load in.
Insurance can be purchased through a company of your choice or,
if you want to spend a reasonable amount, contact All Sport Insurance Marketing
Ltd. in Vancouver.
Green Room
The Metro Studio has an approx. 10 x12 green room which may be used for
an
additional $30/day
Merch.
Intrepid Theatre does not take a percentage of any merchanidise or
related goods sold by renters in the Studio during their rental.
Staffing
Rentals include the services of one techncian to run lights and
sound. Additional labour fees are below.
Rentals do not include ushers or box office staff. Renters must
supply a front of house manager to overseeticket sales and venue
security while and audience is present
Additional staff and/or hours will be billed at the following
rates: For technicians - $21.50 per hour straight time (the first
8 hours), $32.25 per hour overtime and $43.00 per hour double time. For
ushers or box office staff- $17.00 per hour straight time
(the first 8 hours), $25.50 per hour overtime and $34.00 per hour
double time.
Set up fees and
additional costs
Intrepid reserves the right to make certain additional charges for
special seat and stage set-up, dance floor installations,
electrical,
audio, or utility services. Any costs incurred specially
preparing
the venue for a rental or returning the venue to pre-rental condition
will be passed on to the Renter.
Concession and
Bar Services
Renters are permitted to run a concession or a licensed bar but are
responsible for organizing, stocking and staffing it themselves.
Licensed service is allowed, but the renter must procure the
appropriate license and supply a copy to Intrepid the day of the event.
Availability
The Metro is available on a first come first served basis; check dates
with the Operations Manager.
Bookings are not considered confirmed until a 50% deposit is recieved
and a contract signed.
Box office
The Metro Studio does not have an onsite box office at this time.
Renters are responsibile for selling their own tickets both in advance
and at th door. Intrepid theatre can provide online advance ticket
sales. Contact the Ops Manager for more details.
Accessibility
The venue is fully wheelchair accessible.
